The photos on this page were taken at the 75th Model Engineer Exhibition held at Sandown (England), December 29-31, 2005. They were kindly taken by Mr John Downie and are confined to models in the Internal Combustion class alone. With the exception of the freelance V12, John has included the exhibit placard in each case, thus saving us both some creative writing. This was designed and build by Ron Henkins who appears in the photo behind his Bentley BR2 and V12.

And some more of the show as seen through the lens of Eric Offen. Apart from the Matchless G45, all the others are Napier engines--three differnt ones in fact; the Lion, Dagger, and Sabre. The latter two being "H" configuration engines that are more accurately termed Napier-Halford after designer, Major Frank B Halford (designer of the Cirrus and Gypsy ranges). Halford came to Napier in 1928 as a consultant to assist in addressing the diminishing market for the Lion. The "arrow-head" configuration Lion had its hey-day in the late 1920's powering the Supermarine Schneider Cup racers. The pistons and conrods shown are actually full-size components loaned for display by the Napier Trust.
